“This exhibition represents a significant shift in the relationship between the two countries that are great countries in terms of their great history and deep rooted culture in addition to their presence in the international arena, especially in the cultural and civilizational areas.

“It is normal to see a country of great civilization, displaying its culture in a country of great civilization too.  We believe that a country's economic and political weight does not matter much unless it enjoys deep rooted history and culture. So this exhibition is considered as a launching pad for the solid relationship between two great civilizations, between the great civilization of the Arabian Peninsula and the great civilization of China.

This exhibition displays the heritage of nations, kingdoms and civilizations that had emerged from the Arabian Peninsula and headed to Europe and Asia and those civilizations had great economic power which indicates that we were capable as the Arabian Peninsula’s people to develop powerful economies over thousands of years. It is not surprising that our countries are capable of managing huge economies, besides we do not lack historic achievements in the areas of trade security, especially this exhibition simulates the ancient trade routes and the similar tasks that are inherited by generation after generation due to the successive civilizations of the Arabian Peninsula.

“The exhibition is considered as embodiment of the expended relationship between China and the Arabian Peninsula, which exceeds five thousands of years and founded over the trade routes that had been arriving from China loaded with Chinese goods to Arab World as silk and perfume roads. These two roads had great impact in terms of cultural exchange between China and Arabian Peninsula.

Once in 1999, when he was the governor of Riyadh province, I had the honor of being a member in his delegation. I saw the large cities of Beijing and Shanghai as they were taking off on the course of urbanism and economic expansion. The second visit was in 2014 when King Salman was a crown prince and there were a number of visits exchanging between the leaders of the two countries, the most important of them was the visit of President of People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to the Kingdom in January 2016.  The visit had concluded by signature of 14 agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries in different areas, including the cultural areas which was covered by a memorandum of understanding signed by SCTH and the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) for cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of cultural heritage.

The holding of this exhibition comes within this agreement besides utilizing the Chinese experience in the excavation if sunken antiquities, rock art, archeological excavation and research in the Kingdom”.

It’s very necessary now for the world to know the Kingdom, beside its well-known three dimensions – religious, economic and political dimensions- it has an another important dimension, which is, its great cultural heritage that had great impact on the human civilizations throughout the ages.
